Five protein-rich breakfasts in under 10 minutes
Front-load your protein in the morning and the rest of the day gets easier — cravings included.
- Greek yoghurt with berries, oats and a spoon of nut butter
- Two scrambled eggs on whole-grain toast with avocado
- Cottage cheese with tomato, cucumber and seeds
- Overnight oats with skyr, banana and chia
- Smoothie with milk, protein powder, frozen berries and oats
Photograph any of these in Nutraware and watch the protein column tick past 20 g — exactly where you want to start the day.
Why protein at breakfast steers the whole day
A randomised trial from the University of Missouri compared a 35 g protein breakfast with a 13 g version and a skipped breakfast across teen subjects. The high-protein group reported significantly less evening snacking, lower cravings for sweet and fatty foods, and better satiety hormones throughout the day. The mechanism is partly hormonal — protein blunts ghrelin and raises PYY and GLP-1 — and partly cognitive: starting the day with a structured, satisfying meal sets a 'composed' tone that makes the rest of the day's choices easier.
Aim for at least 25–30 g of protein in the first meal. That looks like 250 g Greek yoghurt with a scoop of whey, three eggs with a slice of whole-grain toast, a tofu scramble with beans on sourdough, or a smoothie with skyr, oats and milk. Photograph it once in Nutraware and you'll never have to second-guess the number again — and the rest of the day's hunger curve flattens almost immediately.
Speed comes from prep, not from rare ingredients. Boil six eggs on Sunday, soak two jars of overnight oats, portion yoghurt and berries into small containers, and weekday mornings collapse to under three minutes from fridge to first bite. A travel-friendly fallback for the day everything goes wrong: a banana, a small bag of nuts and a ready-to-drink protein shake covers 25 g of protein in something you can eat with one hand on the way to the train.
